If we set aside an hour and you have people on the phone that have 3 connectors that they want to connect from a trial perspective and their username and passwords are there, we’ll spend 15 min at most connecting them and then we spend the rest of the time training you with your own data. Also, if you are connecting and you need some level of guidance, there are guides within the platform. So you don’t have to call us and talk to us but if you do, we have the chat capability where we can immediately offer support.

We have built in guided installations

Provide you with guides you on how to implement directly, we also provide support – either call us we screenshare,  to Ask questions through our portal (chat)

Typically we can on-board all of your SaaS applications in an hour of being on a call with you (as long as you have adequate permissions/credentials to your applications).  To on-board contracts would take a bit longer depending on how many you have. We have not seen an implementation of a large environment take us longer than a 2-3 days if contracts are involved.  Benefits can be immediate if you eliminate users from monthly costs or if you are near a re-negotiation of a contract with a lot of inactive users.  Typically our identified savings are realized within the first few months but depending on when your contracts end, could take longer.  However you get value of visibility and reporting immediately so you can plan.

There is no agent, it is all API based, we also work with IPAS technologies. So for example if you have Workado we can work with an IPAS technology to also go look through IPAS and see if there are any applications you want us to track if you integrations already built in but it is all through API

We are all Azure based and server-less, so it’s all encrypted and is sitting on Azure. Server-less = running on demand.

Do you use an expense management system like Concur or Expensify?
We would integrate with Concur/Expensify and would be able to pull all of the info out of Concur. We have metadata information that we would look for based on your GL accounts that say subscription or say cloud services…there are a whole bunch of things that we look for. And after that connection is initiated we would return your discovered applications. We would show you what has been discovered and you could add it to your dashboard. <Utilization?> We would not show you utilization, we would show you someone is using something from a shadow IT perspective, not only do you not have controls into it, but you are mostly likely paying for it twice, you signed an enterprise agreement and you are paying for that tool. In terms of optimization, do you they use it or not use it- the feedback that we have gotten from customers is one I have identified that people are actually going outside of the policy, I’ll go deal with that specific problem in particular, I don’t care if they are optimizing or not.

Organizations which buy licenses most of the time buy too many because of ADOPTION

They buy licenses they think they need but they dont optimize them, they dont take the time to realize that an employee does not need a license, they just need to see the ACCESS TO DATA

Some tools such as zoom have a consumption model such as:  # of people hosting a meeting over a 30 day period is driving the bill

Some tools like MSFT allow you to consume licenses and true up later, most of the time that is tracked at the end of the period.  Example of what happened at avid:  we bought E1 licenses, paid X.  Then in the middle of the year switched people to E3 licenses, the delta in cost was $54K per year.  Avid got the bill at true up and was super surprised by the cost.  Didnt understand the increase as we didnt add employees, well come to find out it was not due to more employees, it was due to a different CONSUMPTION MODEL

Shadow IT – people buy 500 licenses for employees, they see 450 consumed, why not the other 50, they are paying for them.  Well come to find out the other 50 have it on their credit card and they are EXPENSING

This has been the number one question that prospects and partners continually ask us: “Isn’t BetterCloud actually a CASB?” To set the record straight, while BetterCloud does have some CASB-lite features, it is not to be confused with a CASB. BetterCloud serves both IT management and security user personas in customer organizations, solving two unique solution sets around everyday operational management for SaaS apps. According to Gartner’s Market Guide for Cloud Office Management Tools, “Elements of cloud office management tools have some functional overlap with tools in related spaces, such as cloud access security brokers (CASB) and software asset management tools. Cloud office management tools will pursue differentiation by expanding to manage the day-to-day operations for multiple SaaS applications, allowing organizations to centrally manage an end user’s digital workspace.” We could not have articulated it better ourselves.
